OK - deliberate spoiler first - the pictures in The Sun of a further humiliated Doctor.

Otherwise, I am haunted by the image of the Doctor returning to the TARDIS to find Kylie Minogue at the controls, introducing herself as Iris Wildthyme. A great, but unlikely, books crossover.

If this all happening a year on from The Sound of Drums, how can we avoid an episode that is as much of a let-down as Star Trek: Voyager's The Year of Hell, where the characters go on a long emotional 'journey', only for the great reset button to be pressed at the end?

I hope and largely expect that Lucy escapes with the Master, just because having her die horribly after double-crossing the Master would be such a cliche, and because I part-expect her story to be carried forward in Helen Raynor's next two-parter, Cult-of-Skaro-style.

I had wondered whether Martha would turn out to have been a secret agent of Torchwood or UNIT all this time, but I suppose that wouldn't help the transformation I expect us to see tonight, as she turns from medical student into leader of the resistance. If we see what we are promised, and if the dramatic conclusion doesn't involve a complete return to the status quo ante, then I think it will be difficult for Martha to continue as a regular, lending some credence to yesterday's Daily Mirror rumours.
