I loved the monks and actual meaning of the Bells, and thought the adversaries were pitched just right - genuinely scary, but plausible as pawns of the Great Intelligence.

The one thing I didn't spot were the visual links to The Matrix, perhaps because they've become so commonplace now. I would have added a comparison between the way Miss Kizlet is able to turn facets of 'integrated' personalities up and down and the waves of herd behaviour which can be seen on social networking, rising up and then vanishing as if there is a puppetmaster pulling participants' strings.
