Strange though it may seem for me to be posting about football, the rise of Newcastle United in the early 1990s lifted the mood on Tyneside, and their all-but-imminent relegation from the Premier League will depress thousands. These are the fruits of more websurfing while I slowly wake up - my decision to stay up for May Morning finally caught up with me last night. Off now, however, to another engagement in my busy social life.
