Last Wednesday, when taking
pennypaperbrain back to London, we stopped for sandwiches at the Welcome Break service area at junction 8A of the M40. There, I succumbed not only to the temptation to buy a bar of Cadbury's Bournville dark chocolate, but to take advantage of an offer and buy two. The first was eaten in the office over the next two days, but the second remained in my car's glove compartment until last night.
Thank goodness for sealed plastic wrappers. Thanks to the heat - often at 32C - over the previous few days, the chocolate had completely melted and I had to hold the wrapper very carefully to maintain its shape. I placed it in the fridge last night and tried some this morning.
Despite the melting, it wasn't too bad; if anything, it had become a little sweeter than I expect Bournville to be. My favourite dark chocolate is that made by the fair trade brand, Divine, which is more bitter than Bournville. I wasn't too disappointed, though, and will have some chocolate with my coffee when I'm working from home tomorrow.
