Such was the injunction we were evidently following, but after a slow start (leaving London on a fog-bound December evening was never going to take a short time) we progressed steadily up the M1, M18 and A1 to the clear-skied county of Northumberland. Some of the fog was very dirty, though - the replenishing of the screen wash yesterday afternoon will probably have to be repeated - and in Yorkshire smelt of sileage.

I'm now updating on my father's PC as usual when I'm up here (plans for an updated laptop to replace the nine-year-old one which I have borrowed from TGW, and which they are in no hurry to have back, plus the addition of a wireless network to the parental abode, have yet to be put into effect) so there will be shorter updates and fewer comments for the next couple of weeks.

Those with respect for the Bard would be recommended not to see Oddsocks's touring production of Twelfth Night, currently at the Queen's Hall, Hexham. While there were some good ideas and the cast worked hard, overall the jokes were overplayed and too much unsuccessful business ladled into the truncated script.
