Well, that's another tranche of corrections for TGW off to production. The deadline for the October release was earlier than I'd have liked, and I had three late nights in the office this week as a result; still, TGW will be a better GW for it. I had a chat with one of my examiners last night in St Giles, and she warned me not to allow myself to be exploited. It might be a bit late for that.
I'd hoped to be going up to the Lake District tomorrow to join SocT on their holiday, but was in no state of mind to do any forward planning before the corrections were through at work. I didn't start trying to book anywhere until today, and found (predictably, really) that all the accommodation in the Keswick and Borrowdale area seems to be booked very solidly. I've decided to stay down here on Saturday, and travel up to the north-west on Sunday. I've earmarked a comfortable and characterful-looking B&B near Preston for Sunday night but no-one is there to take my booking (should they have room). After that, it'll be a couple of nights in a communal sleeping hall in the Lakes, and then a trip to Newcastle to join the family.
