Christmas has started to make its presence felt. I had a near-splendid Christmas lunch today in the private dining rooms at TGW's publisher, splendid but for the absence of any vegetables other than roast potatoes and sprouts. There are more available in the canteen version of the Christmas lunch, and we expect to get what we pay for! I also had two glasses of wine, which then lay in wait until I joined an ex-colleague and a colleague for a drink at the end of the afternoon. I had a pint and a half (Ex-colleague said that I must have been on drugs at high school...) and felt as if I'd had several more. Rendezvousing with
drievertel, Cellis and Sherlock for a SocT evening a bit later, I decided to stick to Pepsi. We didn't end up in the right pub; the Mitre was packed as its bar tables were being used as overflow for the restaurant, and there turned out for once to be more room in the Turf.
I'm meant to be going to Rustica's tomorrow to see the extended version of The Return of the King, but I've so much to do that I don't think I'll make it. Apart from anything Christmassy, I've got to make strides on this Doctor Who book chapter, and it's not writing itself. I never thought I'd be the one to have too much of a social life, but I seem to be.
