I havn't yet mentioned my acquisition of said cake, yea, verily of the kind that [livejournal.com profile] pennypaperbrain has abjured. Unfortunately there is a lot of it, and I have been reasonably sparing. It's from a range of almost home-made cakes from a baker in Guildford which the Co-Op in Woodstock is now getting in, as part of the revision of their range following the merger of the Oxford, Swindon & Gloucester with the West Midlands Co-Op to form 'The Midcounties Co-Operative'.

Today saw SocT's annual walk, which I'd never done before except as part of the tour for the Aston visitors. I used Rustica's notes from the summer. I effectively co-led a group with [livejournal.com profile] narahttbbs, which worked rather well I think, as we have different memories for different kinds of story - well, I didn't seem to have much of a memory at all. Afterwards we retreated to Holywell Manor bar, as the Bird and Baby and the Lamb and Flag were overflowing, probably with new graduates and their families, and I got to play a round of Werewolf as played in DrG's room until 3am after the Trial of Melkor last night.

This evening I've been failing to prepare for teaching - watching 'The Parting of the Ways' again and listening to more Martin Carthy, while having a book open. As I've been saying, I really shouldn't have taken on the teaching this term because the financial gain isn't balanced by the amount of preparation I do or, too often, don't do and displace by watching Doctor Who again...
