Musings on Biography, from the New York Times

I don't know if anyone else is interested, but this article has some reflections that hadn't been pointed out to me before about the differences between US and UK literary culture:

It's a meme-ish sort of day

You can tell I should be working, shouldn't you?

Serenity

I avoided work (still not done very much) and went to the cinema to see Serenity. I don't think that I can provide a detailed review; but suffice to say the cast were very good indeed, and that this was definitely a Joss Whedon film, with its female warrior-saviour, explorations of concepts of love, and space battles as character drama. I think I might take out a leaf from [livejournal.com profile] deepbluemermaid's book and see it again at some point.
